Small Town America
I was raised in the country, outside the small California town of Oak View—a hilly community of about 2 square miles and a population around 2,500. I lived the kind of small-town moments the famous illustrator Norman Rockwell so brilliantly captured in his paintings.
Deeply influenced by the “Saturday Evening Post” covers that plastered the walls of my grandmother’s tiny bathroom, I gravitated to photographing small-town life. The precious subtleties of the everyday lives of everyday people capture humanity in a way that big events and celebrity photography never can.
